Hello August; Hello Adventure

Miscellaneous

“In life, it’s not where you go, but who you travel with.” -Charles Schulz, Peanuts

I came across this quote the other day and it stuck with me.

On Sunday Allanah and I both had a free day and decided to spend it crossing some things off of our summer to do list. The main goal: find for a sunflower field. So we went for a short roadie to Wellington in search of our favorite flowers (which we didn’t find).

But along the way we:

  1. Had lunch at Panera
  2. Got coffee from Starbucks for national friendship day
  3. Made dark chocolate covered strawberries & bananas
  4. Had car trouble & had to switch cars
  5. Peed on the side of a dirt road
  6. Picked little flowers
  7. Took Polaroid pictures
  8. Tried a new place for dinner – YoB
  9. Saw thousands of Purple Marrin birds flying in
  10. Looked at chalk art

At the end of the night, when we were looking at the chalk art covering old town square, we found a drawing of a giant sunflower. And having someone in your life to look at a chalk drawing of a sunflower with after a day of searching for a sunflower field is so important. Because after all, sometimes it’s not about where you go, it’s who you go with.

  1. Well, you did it again – – this is a cute and funny story of a nice drive through the country. You have to hit the back roads to see fields of sunflowers but I have not been on a drive for so long that I don’t know where they are this year. Sometimes we have seen them along the side roads to Hutchinson or Yoder. Have also seen them along 8l Hiway up north of Salina. I love sunflowers. They are so cheerful and bright and they give great oil and nice seeds. Great flower!!!

Nice to see your writing again on here. Keep up the great work. We thank you for the card in today’s mail also. It was very sweet. See you soon. LY, Grandma
